Maple Sugaring Festival @ the Great Swamp

Last weekend, we went to the Great Swamp Education Center to see the maple sugaring process. I'm not sure if Shane was old enough to understand what was going on, but for us adults, it was interesting. For Shane... he just enjoyed the maple lollipop and the ice cone. We will definitely come back when he's a bit older.

After the session, we went to Pub 199 in Arlington for an early dinner! It was an interesting venue with loads of hunted wildlife heads on the wall. Seafood was so good so good and so cheap so cheap!! It's definitely a place worth going and worth that 45-50 mins drive.

Straw bale garden

We don't yet have a garden at home but I'm keeping this article for one day if we do move into a house with a garden.

DIY felt board

I made this over the last 2 days to let Shane have a go at his alphabets and numbers. Since his school was starting to teach them phonics, the kiasu parent in me thought he should keep up.

To make it interesting for him, I had a cut up of a train. I think he played more with the shapes (that formed the train) rather than the alphabets itself. I must say it (the purpose of the board) did work too because I could hear him blabber out the alphabets every now and then and trying to spell his own name.
